Introduction (pp.21-64)
H divides up the Introduction to the book into two chapters. Ch.1 is often called the substantive introduction, while ch.2 is often called the methodological introduction. This is because in ch.1 H sketches and motivates the project of answering the Seinsfrage by trying to convey to us an initial sense for what the question is and why it’s important. Then, in ch.2, he tackles the methodology he will use to pursue this project.
